14th & !5th November
On the 14th November we took 4 tibbies and 2 iggies to the Huon Agricultural Championship Show. It was a fun, long and noisey day but the dogs all performed well and the girls had a great time. Alas Edwina broke her arm two days before so wasnt able to show, but she still pitched in with carrying dogs and equipment and still managed a couple of rides.

On the 15th November we left the baby tibbies home to rest and brought Betty, and Zhenshi (AKA Klass) so 3 tibbies and 3 iggies to the Huon and Channel Kennel Club Championship Show. Nikki also came along with Steve and Noelene.
Iggies
Addy has regained her confidence and secured Best of Breed on both days. Bob was his usual happy self and came away with DCC on both days.
Tibbies
Coco secured a 9 point BOB on the Saturday and Junior in Group. It was Nikki and Noelenes' turn on the Sunday with Nikki securing BOB. Vienna took the BCC and 6 points on both days. Zhenzhi (AKA Klass) showed really well for Emily.

Pugs
Once again Dean Quinlivan was kind enough to let Sancia show a pug - this time Lanacora Lily The Pink. As a gorgeous combination Sancia and Lily took BCC on the Saturday and State Bred in Group on the Sunday. As a consequence Sancia had her first go in Show Specials. Lily is a sweet little dog to show, so lively and happy. Sancia just loved the whole experience. THANKS DEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The apprentice and the master - in step dont you think?

22nd to 25th October
In readiness for the Royal Hobart Show (23rd October) and the Hobart Dog Club Show (25th October) preparations were made and good friends - Chris Scott (Tunamara Kennels - South Australia), Janice Heyward (Tanden Kennels - Oldina), Jo McCarthy (Kiannapark - Western Australia) Bev Hamilon ( Natebite Kennels - Queensland) and Cherie Tulk ( Tacozajo - Victoria) arrived with dogs and cars in tow to share the weekend with us.

Jo, Leone, Janice, Rowena, Chris and Cherie
All up we had 9 visiting Italian greyhounds, 2 Chinese Crested and 2 Papillons staying with Sim and Bev, who is Coco's ower staying with Mon.
Royal Hobart Show - 23 October 2009 - a selection of highlights & photos

Bev with her boy Coco Chris with Barbara - soaking in the atmosphere
The weekend was action packed and not without hiccups but its probably fair to say we all had such a great time. At the Royal breed entries for both Italian Greyhounds and Tibetan Spaniels were impressive, with 19 iggies and 11 tibbies entered. The iggy bitch line up was really strong with some stunning looking girls out there.

Bitch challenge line up - Right to Left - Pinot (BCC, BOB & BIG), Fancy, Betty, Ellie, Bambi, Faith and Addy

Dog challenge line up - Right to left - Fletcher (DCC), Bob and Rocky
An added bonus was the arrival of Ashleigh Oldfield and her gorgeous dog Pinot ( Aust Ch Wondoan Wun Dandy Yanky - A.Oldfield/B.Wistuba/S&M Reeve/J&L Hales). Pinot did the breed proud taking out Best In Group at the Hobart Royal.
Highlights of the weekend were many, some of them being:-
-
Meeting and getting to know both Jo McCarthy and Bev Hamilton in person after chatting for such a long time on the phone and via email.
-
Pinot and Ash taking out BIG at the Hobart Royal and guiding Sancia in the junior handlers on the Sunday - big thanks to Ash.
-
Nikki (Tunamara Nikki Tsha )winning Best of Breed at the Hobart Royal - well done to Noelene and Steve for all the hard work with this boy and to Chris Scott for breeding such a sweet young tibby.
-
Coco taking out Reserve Dog Challenge at both shows.
-
Sancia being asked by the fabulous Dean Quinlivan (Lanacora Pugs) to handle a number of his pups in group specials. Sancia was just so grateful for this experience and we cant thank Dean more for trusting his well behaved pugs into Sancia's care in the ring - THANKS DEAN you made Sancia's show day.
-
First shows for Emily Cooper and Rachel Plant, both with tibby boys, Emily with her Klass and Rachel with Angus. Both did really well and we are proud of both of them.
-
The professionalism, patience fairness and spades of encouragement that the Group 1 Judge at the Royal Hobart Show possessed. Mr Gutenberg Soares from Brazil made every dog and handler feel respected and watched. He was especially kind to the junior handlers, shaking hands with all junior handlers and kissing Edwina on the head - what a nice man.
-
Watching and learning from Chris, Jo, Janice and Cherie, so nice of them to come down and allow us to probe and question and learn.

17 & 18th October
At the last moment we decided to show at Longford, even though it meant two long drives and two long days. Both days were enjoyable and we set out the highlights in pictorial form below.
Ticka taking BCC on both days to finish her Australian Championship

Sunday was cold but Ticka was happy for most of it staying warm as long as she could!
Coco - taking BOB and a 10 point DCC on the 17th October
Boulter's last show
It is with much sadness that we farewelled Boulter on the 18 October, gone to a lovely couple in Launceston. Alas Boulter at 9 months had grown bigger then we had hoped and becuase we are so limited in the numbers we can keep he has moved to a great loving pet home where we know he will be loved and spoilt by his new owners!!

12th October
JLo's pups are now over three weeks old and today we took their first 'big sitting up' photos. They are of course still wobbly, as are my photography skills but here they are all looking fantastic.

(23 days old -from left to right, Belle, Forrest, Corky, Boss, Annie and Otto)
20th September
JLo and Presley's pups have arrived!
We are over the moon to say that with less fuss then we thought possible JLo brought her six gorgeous pups into the world.
These pups are truly stunning, we could not have have hoped for such a gorgeous litter. All are a good weight and JLo is proving to be an excellent mother.
A thank you to our iggy mentor Chris Scott - Tunamara Kennels who we telephoned in the middle of the night to be sure that we were doing all the right things to help JLo.
JLo's brood consists of two stunning red girls, two red boys and two blue fawn boys.

(Here they are in birth order, bottom to top, red irish boy with full collar, red girl with black mask, blue fawn boy with blaze, blue fawn boy, red irish boy, red irish girl)

Here is the ever vigilant mother watching over her babies.
Once again an enormous thank you to Kristi and Con - Bellagio Razzo for JLO and all their work in getting a pregnant JLo to Tasmania.
14th September
JLo is home!
Mon, Edwina, Sim & Sancia travelled up to Melbourne to collect JLo (Am Ch Razzo Bellagio Absolutely Sinful) from the Spotswood Quarantine Centre on the 12th September.
JLo is an amazing dog, she has settled into life in Sandy Bay with Sim, Sancia, Dave, Ashby & Essie, Ticka, Addy and Boulter (AND EVEN Mawson our grumpy British Short Haired Cat). We could not be happier with this girl, who has taken all those flights, the 30 days in quarantine and relocating to Tasmania in her stride.
We thank Con Moothart, Kristi Crouch and Susan P for all the care, hard work that has made JLo just a super girl and Con and Kristi for the super human efforts in getting JLo out here. That was such a saga and at one stage, after so many hiccups Kristi commented 'Gosh doesn't Australia want J?" It did seem to be the case BUT that couldn't be further from the truth.
Better photos will follow but here we are collecting her from Quarantine, her in the hire car and then her finally home with us in Hobart.
Another big thank you to Cherie - Tacozajo Kennels in Melbourne for all the care and love she provided to JLo whilst she was in Quarantine!

JLO with her new family!!! We love her so much and send huge thanks to Bellagio and Razzo Italian Greyhound breeders in the USA.
4th September
Vienna turned one today!! To celebrate she was allowed to sleep on Mon's bed and to stay inside and be completely spoiled all day. Hang on a minute Mon - she does that every day!!

Here she is having a birthday cuddle with her her brother Klass and boyfriend Coco.
23rd August
Another sunny day saw us take the six iggies and two of our tibbies to the Hound Dog Club Championship day. Ashby - Sim's seven year old came long to hold dogs for us and did such a great job, well done Ashby!

Ashby with Addie and Boulter watching and learning!
Iggies
Addie and Sancia starred with Addie taking BCC and Best of Breed for a nice 11 point challenge. Bob, this time handled by Simone also showed his little head off for DCC and RUBOB. Rowena was away so Edwina showed Betty and they did a great job with Betty securing the reserve BCC.
Tibbies
Not such a great day for the tibbies. Although Coco performed really well he came away empty handed. The shining light was Nikki, who took baby puppy of breed and group. Well done Noelene and Nikki.

Noelene with Nikki - best baby puppy in group
22nd August
We took 6 iggies and 2 tibbies to the British Bulldog Club of Tasmania All Breeds Championship Show. (We left Sabreena, with the pups) We had a fun day as usual with both our junior handlers, Sancia and Edwina continuing to improve.
Iggies
Bob impressed us all and was the deserving winner of another Best of Breed. Addie was the surprise package managing at just 6 months of age to secure BCC and RUBOB, beating the older Barad girls. Boulter took RCC and we think did a pretty good job, always happy and he and Sancia had a fun day and looked so good together.

Sancia and Boulter (Judge Ms Y Meintjes (NSW))
Tibbies
Sancia and Coco looked lovely but it wasn't Coco's day, taking junior of breed but not best of breed. Edwina and Vienna had a good day too with Vienna taking puppy of breed, but nothing further.

The girls with the Tibbies (Sancia and Coco) (Edwina and Vienna)
20th August

Seasidepak Geniwhetu -
'Scarlett" joined us - we would like to thank Sue Cronshaw in Brisbane for allowing this little girl to join us. She and Atima are now great friends and we look forward to getting to know Scarlett!
15th August
It is with the greatest pleasure that we announce that our newest Barad Kennels member has arrived safely into Australia.
We are thrilled to announce that American Champion Bellagio Razzo Absolutely Sinful "JLo" arrived into Melbourne on the 13th August and after finishing her quarantine she will be joining us here in Hobart.
We can not adequately express our thanks to the ladies of Bellagio (Kristi Crouch - Missouri) and Razzo (Con Moothart - Iowa) Italian Greyhounds for their support, friendship and for entrusting this exquisite girl to us. We would also like to thank Susan, another of JLo's Mums for allowing this beautiful girl to travel to Tasmania where she will be loved and add significantly to our kennel.

American Champion Bellagio Razzo Absolutely Sinful "JLo"
6th August
It is with much excitement that we announce that Tunamara Klass "Klass" joined us today, flying in from South Australia. Klass is the litter brother of our Vienna and we are grateful to Chris Scott once again in allowing another of her beautiful dogs to come to Tasmania.
Given that Mon's house is now quite full we have decided that Klass with stay with our good friend Emily and we welcome Emily as a new member of Clan Barad.
We are confident that Emily and Klass we become the best of friends and we are looking forward to this pairing getting going in the show ring in the near future.

1st August 2009

Our tibby pups are now 7 weeks old and all have found great homes.
Angus is going to a pet home in Tasmania, Brockey is going to Marion Junior in Queensland, Orla is going to Sue Cronshaw in Queensland and we will be retaining Armitta.
Pups will be leaving us for their new home in approximately 3 weeks time and we wish them and their new owners all the best.
25th & 26th July 2009
We were a couple of handlers down due to illness but still took 6 iggies and 2 tibbies to two days of showing, being the Combined Breeds Dog Club of Tasmania Inc Championship Shows. We had mixed results, it would be fair to say.
Iggies
The highlights this time were from our iggies with Bob - Clovelly Bobby Whitesoxs taking Best of Breed on the Saturday and Betty - Barad Bettica taking out Bitch Challenge Certificate on the Saturday and the Sunday and Runner Up Best of Breed on the Sunday.

Rowena and Bob - Saturday judging (Judge Mr G Missen)
Our baby puppies did well, each having a best baby puppy of breed win, Addy on Saturday and Boulter on Sunday.

Addy and Mon - Saturday judging (Judge Mr G Missen - VIC)

Tibbies
Ever reliable Coco performed really well and took Puppy of Breed and in Group on the Sunday.

Coco taking out Puppy in Group on Sunday with Mon
Coco was beaten for DCC by another dog imported from New Zealand - Aztlon Myaka Khyi owned by Georgie Smith. This boy went on to win Open in Group also on the Sunday, so well done to Georgie.
Vienna was a little naughty, but we think that was because Edwina, one of our star junior handlers was away.

Mon doing her best with Vienna
18th July 2009
Our tibbie pups are now 5 weeks old and developing beautifully.

Armitta and Angus - 5 weeks
The pups all wanting to be out and exploring - 5 weeks

27th June 2009
We almost had a full house, but for the nursing mothers (Sabreena and Beanie), we took all of the Barad dogs out on a wet and cold day to the Southern Classic Dog Show - 5 iggies and 3 tibbies in all.

Sancia and Edwina - dressed to impress!
IGGIES
We had a great day with Ticka, guided by Sancia taking BCC and BOB and Bob with Rowena taking DCC.

Judging for best bitch - Ticka, Ellie and Betty (Judge Ms A Roth - NSW)

Unfortunately most of the photos we took of Bob were blurry but here is an OK one of him on the table!
We are so proud of Bob, after such a long time out of showing he looked just lovely, walking around the ring like he owned it - well done Rowena, he really looked fabulous.
Our baby puppies did well too, with Sancia and Boulter taking Baby Puppy of Breed and looking really good in Baby Puppy in Group, but with no success - he was beaten by our Nikki! We were proud of Addy too, although beaten by her brother and doing a wee in the ring.

Baby Puppy in Group Judging - Sancia with Boulter and Steve with Nikki
TIBBIES
This was our Nikki's first show and he attracted a lot of attention. He did such a great job, taking Baby Puppy in Group like the little champion he is.

Nikki with his fans - Sancia and Edwina left and right and handler - Steve in the middle!

The Barad Kennels Ladies - with Nikki and his ribbon
We want to thank Noelene and Steve Watson for all the hard work they have put into Nikki.

Nikki looking gorgeous and so clever in Puppy in Show judging with Steve
Vienna and Coco were a little naughty but Coco still managed to take DCC and Best of Breed and Vienna Runner up Best of Breed and BCC.
24th June 2009
We would like to confirm that our tibbie pups are doing really well and we have made a decision to run on two of the pups.

Sabreena's pups at 11 days old
13th June 2009
We would like to announce that Sabreena has produced a beautiful litter and all are doing well.
It was such a cold and yucky day she must have decided that Monique needed to stay indoors and so at her own pace she has produced a healthy litter of two girls and two boys.
Mon and Sabreena would like to thank the other Barad ladies and in particular Rowena for the lollies, support and birthday cake - it really is nice to have such a support network around each of the dogs, whatever they may be doing!

2nd June2009
We are thrilled to announce that Beanie - Jannarn Caribean Attack is the proud mother of a litter of one - one fawn Irish marked boy who is yet unnamed.
22nd May 2009
Today is a little sad for us here as Tunamara Rock Hopper "Rocky" left us to join his mum Tori and human mum Chris up at Tunamara Kennels in Adelaide.

We wish him all the best with Chris and will be watching his achievements with interest.
Today however isn't all about partings as Tunamara Nikki Tsha "Nikki" joined us late in the day. Being such a small little bundle we were worried about the flight but we didn't need to, he arrived hungry but otherwise very happy and has taken great steps to befriend the other tibbies and members of Monique's household.

16th May 2009
Kennel Club of Tasmania (South) Inc Championship Show
It was so so cold we um-med and arhhed about turning up to this show but finally decided we would. We brought with us Ticka, Betty and the two baby iggies - Boulter and Addy and the three tibbies - Sabreena, Vienna and Coco.

Sancia & Boulter doing brilliantly Edwina & Vienna - puppy in show judging
Thankfully the show was moved indoor and we are pleased to report Ticka won best of breed in the iggies and the babies were so well behaved. A big thanks to Sancia for all her hard work in training these babies, we couldn't't have been prouder with Boulter winning baby puppy of breed and looking good, but a bit young in the group judging.

Noelene & Addy, Sim & Boulter Vienna and her followers with her ribbon!
Our tibbies all decided to misbehave but still Sabreena took best of breed. We are very grateful to Noelene for taking Sabreena in, despite Sabreena's reluctance she looked really good. Vienna shined and won puppy in group, guided quietly and gently by Edwina. Coco was his usual playful self but still obtained his DCC.

In junior handlers Sancia had a great run placing first with Ticka.
So all in all a great day - very proud of our three month old iggies and our 8 month old tibbie!
3rd May 2009
Combined Breeds Dog Club of Tasmania Inc Championship Show
We took five dogs to this show, one being 12 week old iggy Boulter. This time we had both Sancia and Edwina handling, as well as Mon in her new red suit.
The girls did really well once again. Ticka earned a challenge certificate, as did Vienna. Coco - won a challenge certificate and BOB.

Edwina and Vienna - catch up V!!

Boulter's first show experience with Ticka watching and below it was Essien's first show as well, she enjoyed it too!

2nd May 2009
Combined Breeds Dog Club of Tasmania Inc Championship Show
One reluctant iggy and three happy tibbies strutted around at the Show-grounds in Glenorchy. We were slightly down on handlers as Edwina had a previous engagement.
All the tibbies looked lovely but it was Coco that took best of breed.

Vienna and Mon
V did really well too, she was her usual playful self but we think she is looking lovely!
Sancia handled Coco brilliantly and loved the whole day so here are some photos of the pair of them in action.

Huon & Channel Kennel Club Championship Show
On the 19th April Barad Kennels took two tibbies and we are delighted to say our great friend Chris Scott, Tunamara Kennels brought three of her iggies all the way from South Australia to the lovely Huon Valley to participate in this show.
The weather was even better then the show on the previous day and so were the results with Barad Bambina Labamba taking out runner up in group from the puppy class and Chris Scott's Tanden Viktoria taking Open in Group!
We took lots of photos that we are sure will find their way to Chris's web-page sooner or later, and if they don't we will put them up here in the next few days.
Both our tibbies enjoyed the day too, even though it was a long one thanks to Viktoria!

Coco, happy as usual waiting for his turn
